Our history

On 20 March 2022 we will turn half a century old: a very important milestone for us, which we want to celebrate with the people who made it possible

Fifty years have passed since in 1972 Pio Ferretti founded “Pontex” and began his activity of transformation, ennobling and customization of clothing fabrics, supported, years later, by his sons Luca and Letizia.

Today the company is led by Letizia Ferretti, 2nd generation, and represents a point of reference in the sector of clothing fabrics in Italy and abroad with about 8 thousand customers served and more than 30 countries in the world to which it exports.

50 years of history, 50 years of tradition, 50 years of work carried out with passion and tenacious dedication that have spanned generations, today a source of great satisfaction, which has allowed the company to develop a strong identity.

“After 20 years I continue to love this job that forces me to always think about new things, to different approaches, to study new proposals for clothing fabrics in line with market research in the fashion sector”.

Letizia Ferretti, CEO Pontex, 2nd generation

“I started working in Pontex the day after I graduated – says Letizia Ferretti, 43, CEO: it was March 20, 2002, a curious coincidence, the same day my father founded the company. I dreamed of a varied and dynamic job, which would allow me to “use” the languages studied at the University. The difficulties are not lacking, especially when you have a family with two children, but even today after 20 years I continue to love this job that forces me to always think about new things, to different approaches, to study new proposals for clothing fabrics in line with market research in the fashion sector. It stimulates me to travel and meet customers from different countries, slowly with the end of the pandemic we have begun to travel the world again: with each customer there is a different relationship, because the approach is different depending on the culture and identity “.

These 50 years of activity represent a solid basis in a still particular and very complex moment: the Covid situation has upset the balance in the fashion world. Despite the difficulties, the company has never stopped evolving within the global market with the same goal in mind: “Customer satisfaction“.

“To stay in this world – concludes Letizia – we must continue to be flexible, quickly adapt to change, grasp every smallest need or request and satisfy it. My slogan? The customer is the king “.

Scrupulous control of product quality, excellence and uniqueness of the fabric recognized by the most prestigious style and brand offices, precision and speed in deliveries have characterized the way-of-work of half a century of production. To these values is added the entrepreneurial strategy increasingly oriented towards the offer of custom-made clothing fabrics, designed and made to measure for the customer. In particular Pontex focuses on Research and Development, sustainability of the raw material, customization and durability of the final product, to create those unique “garments” that.

It is an anniversary, the 50th, that the company wants to experience and celebrate only “symbolically” for the whole of 2022, as the historical period we are living prevents us from any kind of celebration.

The restyling of the logo, the launch of the campaign faces on social profiles, to tell a company that is made first of all by people.

What is Tencel fibre? Tencel fibre is a fibre with a natural structure. What are its unique characteristics? Tencel fibre presents a series of unique characteristics, a reason for being very used in the textile sector: Elasticity, maintained also after many washings. Furthermore, it is sustainable as it is a natural, biodegradable and renewable fibre; this makes it an eco-friendlier choice compared to synthetic materials, and it can be weaved in a wide range of weights and thickness. Linen is a natural fibre too: it is hypoallergenic, insulating and thermo-regulating, it is fresh and light and comfortable to wear, mainly in warmer weather. Despite its lightness, it is surprisingly resistant and long-lasting; linen fabrics are usually stronger than other natural fabrics like cotton. Furthermore, depending on how these fibres are combined, it is possible to obtain different micro structures thanks to the weaving pay of yarns. art. 01812/P05 HOYA PXT 71% TENCEL 16% LINO 13% COTONE altezza 139/141 peso 165m2 240mtl The particular flamed texture of linen with irregular weft of the fabric, for example, creates intriguing visual aspects that give the fabric great personality: in this way the piece of clothing gains a unique value in our wardrobe. art. 04201/P05 ANNIE PXT 51% TENCEL 49% LINO altezza 145/148 peso 135mt2 200mtl 100% eco-friendly pieces of clothing Linen, Cotton and Tencel fabrics for clothing in the Spring Summer Collection by Pontex can be garment dyed using fully natural dyes and pigments, to which finishing can be applied to give a delavé effect. Fabrics with Structured Texture: when crossing is fashion

Piquet, dobby, broken twill effects to “play” with fabric and give identity to each piece of clothing, using the best yarns The fabrics for clothing with structured texture are obtained thanks to a particular weaving, where the final effect is determined by the way in which the yarns of the warp (parallel to selvages) intersect those of the weft (perpendicular to selvages). Each type of structured texture gives life and structure to the fabric because, depending on the crossing of yarns made by the movements of the loom, unexpected, original and unique effects are created.     For the Collection Spring Summer 2025, Pontex has realised a capsule of structured-texture fabrics with high-quality raw materials: natural fabrics one-hundred per cent cotton and stretch cottons (cotton with elastomer) to grant comfort and utmost wearability, added to utmost resistance and durability, to pieces of clothing like, for example, trousers. Thanks to advanced weaving techniques, Pontex realises and proposes fabrics with structured texture with three-dimensional effects, piquet, dobby, broken twill effects, double cotton satin with slub effect. The particular crossing of warp and weft and the use of high-quality raw materials allow to obtain fabrics with unique and particular effects, with more or less sustained hands depending on the structured texture being more or less “open” with yarns tighter or less tight in the crossing. For the Spring Summer season, Pontex also “plays” with untied effects, thanks to the particular construction of the fabric art. 01618/P05 MICHELLE PXT 100% COTTON width 147/150 weight 150m2 230 mtl For the Spring Summer season, Pontex also “plays” with effects like knitting, that make the piece of clothing likewise a comfortable sweatshirt. art. 01516/P05  ELARA STRETCH PXT 98% COTTON 2%ELASTOMER width 143/146           weight 195m2  285mtl Each fabric of this Capsule is designed inside our Style Office, that works in strict collaboration with our Customers to create always new proposals, experiment new types of crossing and new techniques and thus offer exclusive products able to satisfy a more and more demanding international clientele. The quality check, always executed inside our company, allows a visual, sensory and functional analysis of the characteristics of the fabric to provide a suitable and top-quality product. Discover Spring Summer 25 Collection Technical note: "structured texture" means both the set of operations to assemble the loom to prepare it for weaving, and the way in which the yarns of warp intersect those of weft. Therefore, a structured texture defines which kind of fabric will be obtained from a specific weaving. navigate_next
